Praseodymium Oxide

(Pr2O3)

Pr2O3 is a rare-earth oxide with a hexagonal crystal structure, known for its mixed valence behavior and ability to easily undergo oxidation to higher oxides. It exhibits semiconducting properties and shows interesting optical and electronic characteristics due to the presence of partially filled 4f orbitals. Pr2O3 is commonly used in catalysis, pigments, and optical materials, where it can impart specific coloration and enhance performance. Its redox flexibility also makes it relevant for applications in energy systems, including solid oxide fuel cells and oxygen storage materials.
